Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses the Importance of Peaceful Coexistence in Nineveh and Commends Iraq’s Political and Security Progress

During a meeting held at Mar Gorgis Church in Bashiqa, Nineveh, with His Grace Bishop Mar Timotheus Shamani, Head of the Diocese of Mar Mattai Monastery in the Nineveh Plains, and several Muslim and Christian religious leaders, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, emphasized that the success of peaceful coexistence in Bashiqa and Nineveh serves as a model that can be applied across Iraq.
His Eminence highlighted the significant transformations Iraq has undergone, particularly the transition from dictatorship to democracy. H.E. acknowledged the initial concerns surrounding Iraq’s democratic experience, including challenges posed by terrorism, sectarianism, extremism, and political conflicts. However, H.E. celebrated Iraq’s success in liberating its lands from ISIS occupation, which deeply affected Nineveh and Bashiqa. He expressed delight over the return of nearly 98% of the displaced residents to their homes and acknowledged the ongoing efforts in reconstruction and rebuilding in the region.
H.E. underscored the importance of rebuilding human spirits and fostering positive, integrative coexistence among Iraq’s diverse communities. H.E. noted that Iraq’s security situation has greatly improved, with security forces demonstrating initiative and advanced intelligence capabilities, enabling them to apprehend terrorists even in remote desert areas.
On another note, H.E. pointed out that the State Administration Coalition represents a state of political stability and offers substantial support to the Iraqi government. H.E. praised the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the United Kingdom, which yielded agreements in various fields. H.E. also emphasized the importance of societal harmony, remarking that Iraq’s current wave of reconstruction has turned the nation into a vast workshop, paving the way for significant progress and leaps toward a prosperous future.
Concluding his remarks, H.E. addressed the situation in Syria, describing it as a critical development. H.E. called for unity and solidarity in addressing the challenges facing Iraq and the region, urging a focus on strengthening internal cohesion and adopting wisdom and prudence in promoting Iraq’s vision on the global stage.
