Sayyid Al-Hakeem Visits Hawrami Tribe Sheikh in Halabja, Highlights Arab-Kurd Ties
During his visit to Halabja, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, was hosted by Sheikh Hoshmand Yar Ahmad Beg, leader of the Hawrami tribe. The gathering included several tribal Sheiks, dignitaries, and members of the Hawrami and Hawraman tribes. Sayyid Al-Hakeem expressed his pride and delight in visiting this part of the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the deep historical ties shared by Arabs and Kurds over the decades.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem recalled the stance of Imam Sayyid Mohsen Al-Hakeem (may Allah sanctify his soul), who opposed the oppressive regimes of his time by forbidding the conflict against the Kurds. This wise decision led fighters to lay down their arms, preventing a potential genocide. H.E. further noted that this legacy continued with Shaheed Al-Mihrab and Aziz Al-Iraq (may their souls rest in peace), who upheld Arab-Kurd unity as a foundation for national cohesion.
H.E. praised the Hawrami tribe for its significant contributions to Kurdish literature and the region of Hawraman for its influence on philosophy and spirituality, particularly within the Naqshbandi and Qadiri Sufi orders. H.E. affirmed that Iraq has faced immense challenges across various periods but has always overcome them through the unity and solidarity of its people. H.E. highlighted the shared struggles and mutual support between the people of the south and Kurdistan.
Concluding his remarks, Sayyid Al-Hakeem paid tribute to the late Mam Jalal for his pivotal role in fostering the Arab-Kurd brotherhood. H.E. reiterated his call to vote for recognizing Halabja as a new Iraqi governorate, honoring its people and affirming its special place in the heart of Iraq.
