Sayyid Al-Hakeem Visits Nawroli Tribe Sheikh in Halabja, Stresses Honoring Halabja’s People
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, visited the guesthouse of Sheikh Tahseen, leader of the Nawroli tribe, where he met with esteemed members. His Eminence expressed his deep appreciation for the opportunity to connect with the noble tribe and the people of Kurdistan, emphasizing the profound historical relationship between Arabs and Kurds. This bond, H.E. noted, has been marked by significant milestones, including the legacy of Imam Sayyid Mohsen Al-Hakeem (may Allah sanctify his soul) and the contributions of the late Martyr Al-Mihrab and Aziz Al-Iraq (may Allah sanctify his soul).
H.E. highlighted that shared values and a sense of belonging to Iraq have been key to the Iraqi people’s ability to overcome various challenges. Reflecting on the tragedy of Halabja, H.E. described it as a heinous crime that left a lasting pain in the hearts of all Iraqis. H.E. further noted that the mass graves containing countless Iraqis, some of whom were buried alive, are a testament to the shared suffering and coexistence of the Iraqi people.
In this context, Sayyid Al-Hakeem reaffirmed his solidarity with the people of Halabja. He stressed that the best way to honor the city’s residents is for the Iraqi Parliament to vote in favor of recognizing Halabja as a governorate. H.E. added that the related legislation awaits only the final step of parliamentary approval, expressing hope that this decision will be finalized before March 16, the anniversary of the tragic event.
