    Army Day Celebration: Sayyid Al-Hakeem Emphasizes Iraqi Army Advancement Importance

    During the Iraqi Army Day celebration held at the Iraqi Hunting Club, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, highlighted the significance of this national occasion. His Eminence noted that the Iraqi army is one of the oldest in the region and has played a key role in defending Arab causes and combating terrorism over the decades, including its active support for the Palestinian cause.
    Sayyid Al-Hakeem stressed that the army's pivotal role was instrumental in achieving victory over terrorism. H.E. pointed out that the Iraqi army is among the strongest in the region and ranks 45th globally in the 2024 military rankings. H.E. also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the army, with martyrs and wounded personnel from all components of Iraqi society, emphasizing that this reflects the institution's strength and diverse capabilities.
    Discussing the army’s regional role, Sayyid Al-Hakeem highlighted Iraq’s collaboration with neighboring militaries and its extensive database on terrorist groups, which enhances its counterterrorism capabilities. H.E. called for the development of the army’s military doctrine to align with democratic values and the Iraqi constitution, stressing that this doctrine should serve as the foundation of military operations.
    Sayyid Al-Hakeem also underscored the importance of diversifying arms sources to maintain military and sovereign independence, free from external influences. Additionally, he advocated for strengthening Iraq’s air defense system, enhancing officer training, and ensuring the army’s full preparedness. H.E. emphasized the need to combat corruption and keep the military free from any suspicion, reinforcing public confidence in the institution.
    On military manufacturing, Sayyid Al-Hakeem urged investment in domestic production to preserve Iraq’s financial resources and called for stronger cooperation between the army and other security forces. H.E. also stressed the importance of advancing military intelligence to ensure proactive rather than reactive strategies.
    In closing, Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the need for social welfare programs for officers and personnel, including land distribution and the development of serviced residential cities that reflect their sacrifices in serving the nation.
