Sayyid Al-Hakeem Emphasizes Graduate Studies Balancing Quantity, Quality Importance, To Align Outputs with Job Market
During his visit to Wasit University, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with the university’s president and board members, praising the progress made by the institution. His Eminence noted the challenges Iraq has faced, particularly in terms of how the region perceived the post-2003 equation.
H.E. affirmed that the ISIS crisis ended thanks to Allah, the fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority, and the support of the tribes in defending Iraq and liberating its land. H.E. emphasized the need to focus on reconstruction and development, transitioning from a phase of instability to one of stability. H.E. pointed out that universities and the field of education have an increasingly important role to play in this process.
H.E. stressed the importance of balancing both quantity and quality in graduate studies and specialized fields, and aligning academic outputs with the needs of the job market. H.E. also underlined the need to move away from an oil-dependent economy by diversifying income sources and revitalizing the productive sectors.
H.E. called for universities to tailor master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to address the specific challenges Iraq is facing. H.E. concluded by stating that linking the country’s future to fluctuating oil prices is not a sustainable approach, urging the need to think outside the box, seize opportunities, and take serious steps to diversify sources of income.
