    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Decentralization Principle for Iraq's Strength, Guarantee Its Unity

    In the presence of the Governor of Wasit and the head of its Provincial Council, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with Provincial Council members, administrative unit leaders, and directors of service departments in the province. His Eminence emphasized the value of service-oriented work, calling for institutional approaches and urging local governments to be kept away from political conflicts.
    H.E. stressed the importance of applying the principle of decentralization, describing it as a strength for Iraq and a guarantee of its unity. H.E. noted that provinces possess the capabilities and expertise needed to provide services and that the people of these provinces are the most knowledgeable about their cities’ needs. H.E. called for granting local governments their constitutional powers and encouraged them to pursue legal avenues to reclaim these authorities.
    H.E. urged the adoption of a one-stop window system for presenting investment opportunities and stressed the need to set timeframes for departments to provide feedback on these opportunities. H.E. pointed out that there are funds in the region seeking investment opportunities in Iraq and emphasized the need to foster an investment culture by supporting and protecting investors.
    H.E. highlighted Iraq’s economic reliance on oil as a significant challenge, calling for the diversification of income sources, activation of the productive sectors, and an end to bureaucracy. H.E. also underlined the importance of combating corruption as a priority.
