Sayyid Al-Hakeem: The Freedom Iraqis Enjoy Today is the Result of Sacrifices Amid Hardships Like Anfal, Mass Graves
At the Tekkiyeh of Sheikh Hussein Rasheed Lulani Baradost in Erbil, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem met with a group of sheikhs and dignitaries. After listening to Sheikh Hussein's remarks and the sentiments of those present, His Eminence explained that his visit serves as an expression of Arab-Kurdish brotherhood. H.E. highlighted the significant historical moments in which Iraq’s people stood together to defend their nation and establish the pillars of freedom and democracy in this noble land.
H.E. stated, "The freedom Iraqis live today is a result of the sacrifices and hardships endured, such as the Anfal campaign and the mass graves." H.E. urged that this freedom be appreciated, preserved, and safeguarded, emphasizing that all Iraqis, regardless of sect or ethnicity, share a common homeland. H.E. clarified that these visits aim to strengthen this unity. Stressing the importance of fulfilling rights and striving for an independent, stable, and prosperous Iraq, H.E. noted that the values of Iraqi brotherhood and diversity reinforce the Iraqi experience and nation.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem reiterated the call for embracing diversity, encouraging Iraq's communities to serve as bridges connecting Iraq to the region and the world. H.E. advocated for continued interaction, visits, and solidarity among all Iraqis, stressing that remembering history is essential for building the present and future.
H.E. also condemned the violence, devastation, and suffering affecting the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, reaffirming his solidarity with both nations and calling for relief efforts to alleviate their hardships.
