Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Educating Security Services’, Civilians’ Rights During Peace, War
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met with a delegation from the Dutch organization PAX, which focuses on protecting civilians during both peace and war. His Eminence reviewed a copy of the National Policy for the Protection of Civilians and shared several observations. H.E. stressed that the ISIS crisis resulted in countless instances of civilians being targeted, noting how terrorism devastated communities, singling out individuals based on their ethnic, religious, and sectarian identities. In particular, H.E. drew attention to the plight of Shabak and Turkmen Shiite women, who suffered massacres that ended in them being burned, underscoring the need for justice in addressing these atrocities. H.E. also touched on the state of civil rights under the previous regime and the thousands of martyrs Iraq sacrificed to overthrow the dictatorship.
Furthermore, H.E. emphasized the importance of educating security forces on civil rights during times of peace, war, and disaster. H.E. highlighted two key aspects: first, the need to train security personnel on civil rights, and second, the importance of educating civilians about their rights and responsibilities. H.E. called for utilizing all forms of media and civil society organizations to help achieve this goal.
