Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Freedom is One of the Most Important Achievements Post-2003

The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate in Karbala played a significant role during Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem's visit to the province, where H.E. met with several journalists. H.E. emphasized the importance of media in shaping any project and clarified that the current phase requires focusing on the positives and the achievements to counter the state of frustration and pessimism fueled by media agendas attempting to tarnish everything.
H.E. also stressed the need to confront projects that try to beautify the image of the previous regime in the eyes of generations that did not experience its era. H.E. pointed out that viewing that period as an era of achievement and sovereignty overlooks the horrors of wars, sieges, hunger, freedom suppression, executions, and mass graves. H.E. urged journalists and opinion writers to shoulder the responsibility of educating future generations about that period and constructing a collective memory of it.
Furthermore, H.E. emphasized the importance of preserving freedom of expression, stating that it is one of the achievements realized after 2003. H.E. noted that some may underestimate the value of this achievement, emphasizing that only those deprived of it truly understand its worth. H.E. underscored the necessity of safeguarding freedoms while ensuring they do not encroach upon the freedoms of others or violate their rights.
