Sayyid Al-Hakeem calls for a tribal pact prohibiting the use of arms in resolving conflicts while endorsing tribal customs and the law

From the generous land of Maysan, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with Sheikh Waleed Khalid Salman Al-Alawi, the chief of the Bu Ali tribe, and a gathering of honorable gentlemen, tribal sheikhs, and elders in Maysan province on 24/4/2024. His Eminence reminisced with those present about the era of jihad against dictatorship and the victory for Iraq, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the past and using it as a guide for the present and future.
His Eminence urged reflection on positive developments, which can be recognized through comparison with the previous stage. Among these developments are the positive security advancements and the liberation of territory from the grip of ISIS, thanks to the fatwa issued by the highest religious authority and the response of Iraqis from all backgrounds, especially the noble Iraqi tribes, who made significant sacrifices. H.E. emphasized that the defeat of terrorism astonished everyone.
H.E. also highlighted the importance of focusing on social progress, the revival of societal harmony, coexistence among all, and the decrease in political tensions among factions, which has largely reduced the political bickering seen on television screens. H.E. stressed that diversity of opinions is a sign of health, whereas failure to manage differences and failure to set a clear direction is detrimental.
H.E. pointed out that tribal conflicts are embarrassing for everyone and do not align with the depth and history of the Iraqi people and their affiliation with the Household of the Prophet. H.E. called on the wise leaders of the tribes to resolve disputes through tribal customs or resort to the judiciary for resolution. H.E. advocated for a tribal document titled "No to the Use of Arms in Conflict Resolution," hoping that the leaders and sheikhs of Maysan would take the initiative. H.E. emphasized that this represents not only a social taboo but also a violation of religious and legal prohibitions.
To accelerate the pace of reconstruction in Maysan, H.E. stated that the solution lies in investment and creating a secure environment for it, supporting investors, protecting their investments and projects, and creating a tribal document to support investment and create a safe and supportive social environment. H.E. said that this would provide job opportunities, and services, and achieve the desired development while emphasizing the importance of learning from the investment experiences of neighboring countries and their impact on their service and developmental reality.
