Sayyid Al-Hakeem calls to elect speaker with genuine Sunni component support
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with the former Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Mohammed Al-Halbousi on 29/2/2024, along with a delegation from Taqadum party leadership. His Eminence discussed the current political landscape and the conditions in the provinces following the establishment of the new local governments. His Eminence commended everyone for earning the trust of their constituents and stressed the importance of delivering services and enhancing urban life. Additionally, H.E. urged for the prompt selection of a new Speaker for the Parliament, highlighting the necessity for the upcoming leader to be supportive of representatives from the respected Sunni community. H.E. underscored the importance of choosing a process capable of selecting a universally acceptable individual with strong leadership qualities to lead the council.
Furthermore, H.E. deliberated on the events unfolding in Gaza and expressed profound astonishment at the silence of the international community regarding the dire situation in the devastated region, where the death toll has surpassed thirty thousand, with the majority being women and children. H.E. called for an immediate ceasefire as a means of preventing the escalation of conflict into other areas.
