Sayyid Al-Hakeem receives H.E. President of the Republic, calls to resolve Speaker elections
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, along with the Kurdish independent figure, Mr. Halo Ibrahim Ahmed 25/2/2024. H.E. discussed with H.E. the evolving political landscape in Iraq and the region, as well as upcoming milestones. H.E. highlighted the importance of preserving the current stability politically, socially, and security-wise, achieved through the sacrifices and resilience of all Iraqi components. They reflected on the tenth anniversary of Grand Ayatollah Sistani's defensive Jihad Fatwa, highlighting its role in boosting morale and tilting the balance against terrorism, setting the stage for its defeat and the end of its dark era. His Eminence and His Excellency have commended the service and developmental strides of Prime Minister Al-Sudani's government, reiterating the call for support, and acknowledging the positive impact of the government's service-oriented approach on overall citizen satisfaction.
H.E. stressed the urgency of appointing a new Speaker for the Parliament, urging the Sunni component to reach a consensus on a candidate or elect one of their representatives.
H.E. also expressed concern over the breakdowns in the system of values, rights, and legal framework for conflict resolution, regarding the Gaza situation. Moreover, H.E. reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further regional escalation and stressed the importance of aiding the displaced and rebuilding the city.
