Sayyid Al-Hakeem in Ramadan Lecture: Neglecting Prayer Is a Serious Issue That Must Be Addressed

In his Ramadan lecture, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, continued his discussion on Epistle on Rights by Imam Ali ibn Al-Hussein, Al-Sajjad (peace be upon him). H.E. explored the fourth insight related to the tenth right—the Right of Prayer—highlighting the dangers of neglecting it.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized that disregard for prayer is a serious phenomenon that requires attention, dedicating his lecture to addressing its consequences. H.E. presented numerous Qur'anic verses, Prophetic traditions, and narrations from Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) that warn against this issue and its severe repercussions.
    Among the verses discussed were:
    •  "And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement." (5:58 Holy Quran)
    •  "But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires." (19:59 Holy Quran)
    •  "And nothing prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger." (9:54 Holy Quran)
H.E. also referenced sacred traditions cautioning against neglecting prayer, including the Prophet Mohammed's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) saying: "He who belittles his prayer is not from me." Similarly, Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) stated: "Whoever takes prayer lightly will not receive our intercession."
Sayyid Al-Hakeem underscored the significant consequences of neglecting prayer, both in this world and the hereafter. H.E. explained that such disregard leads to the loss of blessings in one’s life and sustenance, hardship in the grave, and a strict reckoning on the Day of Judgment.
Concluding his lecture, Sayyid Al-Hakeem called for greater awareness of the dangers of taking prayer lightly. H.E. stressed that maintaining prayer on time and with devotion is a fundamental pillar in achieving both spiritual and societal stability.
