Sayyid Al-Hakeem in Ramadan Lecture: Emphasizing the Essence of Prayer as Remembrance of Allah

As part of the daily Ramadan lecture series, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, continued his discussion on the Epistle on Rights by our master and leader, Imam Zain Al-Abidin Ali bin Al-Hussein (peace be upon him), focusing on the tenth right—the right of prayer. In this session, His Eminence highlighted the true essence of prayer, which is the remembrance of Allah Almighty.
H.E. referenced several Qur'anic verses that underscore the significance of prayer as an act of worship deeply connected to contemplation on the creation of the heavens and the earth. H.E. cited:
"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, are signs for those of understanding—those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying]: 'Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You! So protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'" (190-191:03 Holy Quran)
H.E. also highlighted narrations from Ahl Al-bayt (peace be upon them) that emphasize the importance of prayer. Among them was the saying of Imam Jaafar bin Mohammed Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him): "The most beloved act to Allah Almighty, is prayer. It was the final counsel of the prophets. How beautiful it is for a man to perform ablution properly, then withdraw to a place where no one sees him, and there, in his bowing and prostration, Allah gazes upon him."
H.E. further explained that prayer is not merely a religious obligation but a means of knocking on the door of the Divine. H.E. referenced the words of Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to Abu Dhar Al-Ghifari: "Allah has placed the delight of my eyes in prayer and made it beloved to me as food is to the hungry and water to the thirsty."
H.E. stressed that prayers performed in solitude, where no one sees but Allah, carry immense reward, as Allah boasts of such worshippers before the angels and answers their supplications.
H.E. also highlighted the vital role of prayer in the lives of believers, describing it as the shortest path to Allah. H.E. urged attendees to maintain reverence and mindfulness in their worship, ensuring a true connection with Allah and fostering a continuous awareness of being in His presence throughout the prayer.
Beyond its obligatory nature, H.E. emphasized prayer’s role in strengthening spirituality and one’s connection to Allah. H.E. encouraged believers to approach prayer with full devotion and sincerity, free from distraction, so they may truly feel the greatness of Allah and ascend spiritually through each stage of worship.
H.E. concluded by affirming that Ramadan is a valuable opportunity to deepen one’s relationship with Allah. H.E. urged attendees to focus on the essence of prayer and never take it lightly.
