Sayyid Al-Hakeem calls for local and federal governments' collaboration
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with Victoria Nuland, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States, in the presence of Her Excellency Alina L. Romanowski, the U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad. The two sides discussed the political developments in Iraq and the broader region and the bilateral ties between Iraq and the United States, focusing on serving the interests of both nations and upholding Iraq's sovereignty.
His Eminence pointed out the achieved stability in the country across political, social, and security aspects, stressing the importance of further strengthening it to evolve into sustainable stability that attracts sustainable development for the nation.
Concerning the recent provincial councils’ elections, H.E. congratulated all the winners and emphasized the pivotal role these elections play in advancing decentralization and supporting provinces through competent local governments capable of delivering services and meeting local aspirations. H.E. called for collaboration and synergy between the federal government and local authorities, recognizing that services are a shared concern and a collective agenda.
Concerning Palestine, H.E. reiterated that endorsing the ongoing massacres is a provocation to Muslims at large. H.E. called upon the international community and specifically the United States to shoulder their responsibilities in the face of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. H.E. also emphasized the necessity of a ceasefire, the facilitation of aid entry, the repatriation of refugees, and the restoration of normal living conditions.
