Sayyid Al-Hakeem congratulates people with disability over their International Day, calls to elect decision-making representatives
During Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem’s, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, meeting with individuals with disabilities on 4/12/2023, His Eminence congratulated them on their International Day and applauded their significant roles, their impactful life messages, and the optimism they convey within society. H.E. reasserted our perspective that disability is more about distorted thinking and behavior rather than the loss or diminished functionality of body parts.
H.E. discussed the events in Gaza and characterized the ongoing situation as a form of genocide. H.E.'s solidarity with the people of Gaza was reaffirmed, accompanied by a call for an end to the war. H.E. reiterated the potential increase in disabilities, particularly affecting women and children, as a consequence of the conflict.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem stressed the need for their representation and emphasized that supporting disabled candidates in reaching decision-making positions, whether in local government or the parliament, is the most direct route to achieving this goal. H.E. illustrated that their presence in such positions would provide a closer representation and expedite the realization of their demands.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem stressed the significance of broad, informed, and effective participation in elections, H.E. stated that the presence of individuals with disabilities at the polling stations sends a powerful message of commitment and responsibility. It serves as an encouragement for others to participate, as electoral involvement is a crucial part of national duty, reflecting dedication to the country and the welfare of its people.
