Sayyid Al-Hakeem participates with Yazidis to celebrate Assembly Feast, affirms coexistence importance
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of Al-Hikma National Movement, participated with the Yazidi Component to celebrate the Feast of Assembly affirming the importance of adhering to coexistence on 9/10/2023.
His Eminence visited Lalish Temple, blessed Yazidis on this occasion, and affirmed that the Yazidi component is the bearer of civilization, authenticity, and deep roots. They made significant contributions to the defense of Iraq and enriched Iraqi culture as a valuable addition to Iraqi society. H.E. recalled the history shared with the Yazidi community, including their prominent figures, elites, religious leaders, and social leaders. This relationship is an inheritance passed down from our ancestors, and will be passed on to children and grandchildren.
H.E. illustrated that the Yazidis follow a unified religion derived from a term related to the Divine in one of the Kurdish languages, contrary to popular belief. H.E. stressed that Iraq's strength lies within its diversity, which necessitates preserving this diversity and replacing the term "minorities" with "components." Components are not measured by their numbers but by their qualitative impact on society.
H.E. recalled the tragedies that the Yazidis endured throughout monumental historical chapters, including the terrible ordeal inflicted upon this noble component by the criminal ISIS gangs, as other components of the Iraqi people have also suffered. H.E. pointed out that great challenges are accompanied by significant opportunities, and that the Yazidi plight has raised international awareness about them, their religion, and the hardships they have faced, making their cause an international concern.
H.E. called for a commitment to the future and urged reliance on the justice system to hold criminals and terrorists accountable.
H.E. emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, stating that our presence among Yazidi brethren aims to convey messages of love, tolerance, and coexistence values. H.E. also affirmed that the circumstances are favorable for resolving crises and enacting laws regulating the relationship between the government of Baghdad, the Kurdistan Region, local governments, and the various components of Iraq and its provinces.
