Sayyid Al-Hakeem, calls to include private sector internet providers to compete
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with the Minister of Communications, Mrs. Hiyam Al-Yasiree on 10/4/2023, and thanked Her Excellency for her condolences over the death of the scholar Sayyid Sadiq Al-Hakeem "May Allah have mercy on him". His Eminence listened to a detailed explanation of the reality of the Ministry and its services provided to the citizens in different aspects and showed full support for a ministry headed by a woman, for it will succeed in presenting a shining example of feminist management and leadership. Moreover, H.E. called upon the ministry to implement the state’s general policy in communications, information technology (IT), postal services, providing internet access, and providing aid in all aspects of the Iraqi state in the fields of communications and IT. H.E. also emphasized the need for the ministry to keep pace with the technological development in the fields of communications and IT and illustrated the importance of involving the private sector in competitive ways to provide internet services.
H.E. affirmed the importance of habilitating and developing security infrastructure in the fields of communications and information technology and what they can do for the security of the country and communications in general, especially with the development of the Ministry’s services, especially communications, to reach higher speeds and ease of communication inside and outside of Iraq.
H.E. called upon the ministry to establish, develop, and manage the e-governance project and effectively aid in implementing and providing services of the information bank, e-commerce, and combating cybercrime while coordinating with other ministries and relevant authorities.
