Sayyid Al-Hakeem calls to hasten government formation, abandon threats and revenge language
At the first conference of the Iraqi minorities under the auspices of the Iraqi Alliance of Faili Kurds on 17/10/2022, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of National State Powers Alliance, indicated the importance of replacing the term minorities with the term components, stressing that the components are a source of strength and enrichment for Iraqi society, reiterating his call to manage diversity and respect privacy within the framework of the inclusive Iraqi national identity. H.E. also called to empower the components to take their natural role in Iraqi society.
His Eminence emphasized that respecting and supporting the components in expressing their own identities is one of the criteria of patriotism. The essence of patriotism is acceptance and respect for everyone and giving them opportunities to express themselves. H.E. called to sustain dialogue and communication, and that workshops and conferences would converge points of view.
His Eminence called on the Prime Minister-designate to involve the Iraqi components in his ministerial cabinet to form an inclusive government. and congratulated the Faili Kurds for their representation through the position of First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament. H.E. also called for empowering women and witnessing a government that represents everyone.
His Eminence also called for expediting the formation of the government to invest time and make up for what was missed due to the political impasse, stressing the need to select competent ministers with integrity and professionalism, and for the government to be a government of national service supported by a clear and measurable program according to specific timelines without generalities or use of euphemism.
He held the powers participating in the government responsible for supporting, adopting, and defending it and ending the state of participation in and opposition to the government at the same time. The government participant must support the government and address issues following the constitutional institutes and not through satellite TV.
His Eminence also stressed the right of the non-participating powers to object to and criticize the government within the framework of the constitution and the law. The government participants and opposition thrive to serve the citizen, calling the upcoming government to listen and consult with the opposition and abandon threats and revenge language. H.E. indicated Iraq’s need for de-escalation, points of view convergence, and following legal means through international institutions to address any problem or information received from here or there.
