H.E. expressed pride and adherence to this very important segment. Moreover, H.E. commended their efforts in serving Iraq and society and spreading out messages of hope.
After listening to their valuable questions, His Eminence reiterated that this segment represents 10% of the Iraqi people, they have the right to have policies that detriments how they are dealt with, urging all of the ministries and state institutions to service them, allocate budgets to develop, empower, and solve their outstanding issues.
His Eminence said, “We have established and run many conventions and events for persons with disabilities, we’ve followed up on their affairs with the government and house of representatives, and we’ve achieved a good portion of our aspirations towards this genuine segment. We will continue our endeavors to achieve all of their dreams.”
His Eminence stated the necessity of the commission of persons with disabilities to be as independent and as far from political interventions and management unpredictability. Its chairperson, board of directors, and all of the workers in it must be of persons of disabilities, similar to their peers of institutions, organizations, and committees. This will enable them to find work on one side, and them being the best people to represent this segment and serve them as they share the same history.
His Eminence reaffirmed that disability is in thought and manners, not due to birth defects or force majeure. H.E. also reiterated the importance of having a counselor for the Prime Minister for Persons with Disability that attends governmental meetings and follows up on all of the interests of this segment.
