Sayyid Al-Hakeem calls to complete ISIL survivors’ legislative structure
On the sidelines of the 15th Conference on Combating Violence Against Women on 19/8/2023, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met with several survivors from the Yazidi, Turkmen, and Christian communities, and emphasized that in its previous editions, the conference yielded numerous procedural and legislative steps. His Eminence stressed the importance of continuous follow-up to fulfill the requirements in a general sense. H.E. affirmed that the plight of the abducted women is a heart-wrenching ordeal, and H.E. thanked Allah for the release of many of them, hoping to work towards the liberation of those who remain. H.E. also stressed the significance of enacting laws that alleviate the burdens of this ordeal, pointing out that the Survivor Law is indeed crucial, but it is not everything.
H.E. called for the return of displaced persons and to keep the Sinjar issue free from politicization and external agendas, and also called for respecting privacy and embracing diversity as a source of enrichment for Iraqi society.
