Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Babil Owns Agricultural, Industrial, Tourism Potential to Qualify for Bigger Economic Role

At the guest house of Sheikh Mohammed Muhsin Abboud Al-Mohammadi in Babil Governorate, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met a group of sheikhs and dignitaries of the Al-Dulaim tribe, pointing to the challenges facing Iraq, foremost the economic challenge resulting from regional developments and the decline in oil production and exports. H.E. stressed the importance of supporting farmers, contractors, and employees and of continuing to pay their dues, explaining that there is a global trend toward ending the war because of its repercussions on the global economy.
H.E. called for diversifying oil export outlets through a pipeline network passing through the Mediterranean and Red Seas, alongside the importance of diversifying the economy and turning Iraq into a producing country in agriculture, industry, and tourism, in addition to investment and modern technology, stressing the need to break the rentier economy and dedicate oil revenues to strategic projects and a future generations fund.
H.E. stressed protecting and supporting the farmer, using modern irrigation methods, purchasing agricultural produce, and turning agriculture into a profitable profession, pointing to the agricultural, industrial, and tourism potential of Babil Governorate and to the opportunities inherent in these five areas, which would free Iraq from dependence on a single source of income, increase its resources, and reduce reliance on oil, paving the way to eliminating that reliance altogether.
H.E. explained the government's direction toward increasing oil production and bringing in foreign investment that would achieve this goal, noting the importance of establishing economic partnerships with specialized companies, and stressing the need to safeguard everyone's interests and benefit from the experiences of others.
