    Sayyid Al-Hakeem to Egypt’s media delegation: Iraq’s media picture differs from reality, institutions and political powers possess maturity

    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of Al-Hikma National Movement, met the chairman of The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Mr. Karam Jabur, and his accompanying delegation of the parliament and prominent Egyptian journalists on 25/12/2022, and lauded their field presence in Iraq to have a closer look on the Iraqi daily reality. His Eminence called them to convey the truth about Iraq and the daily life that the media didn’t grant justice by publishing the negatives and ignoring the positives.
    H.E. lauded the depth of the historical relationship that Iraq and Egypt share, indicating that the relationship is Islamic, Arabic, and cultural. Many common interests are shared between the two friendly peoples and countries. H.E. appreciated the position of the Egyptian leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi that supports the stability and security of Iraq.
    H.E. discussed with the guest the nature of the political landscape developments in Iraq and how Iraq overcame the political impasse that lasted more than a year, illustrating that Iraq is living a political experiment where positives are accumulating and the level of political maturity is rising on the levels of the political powers and state institutions.
    H.E. illustrated the nature of the success factors that the Iraqi government possess, such as the relative financial abundance, political security after defeating terrorism, parliamentary coverage, and the personality of the Prime Minister, who ascended administratively and possesses integrity and clean hands.
    H.E. affirmed that Iraq fought terrorism on behalf of the region and the area. If it weren’t for the sacrifices of Iraqis, terrorism would’ve dug deeper into more than one region. H.E. illustrated that terrorism losing its hosting environment was one of the pillars of Iraq’s stability, indicating that terrorism today is no longer a military threat but a security threat.
    H.E. called to maintain the dialogue of moderation, tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others. The two countries possess leading institutions in this field due to the existence of Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and their cultural and Islamic weight. regarding the reality of freedoms in Iraq, H.E. said: “Freedoms are guaranteed by the constitution, and the freedom of speech in Iraq, on the level of individuals, journalists, and media institutions is almost a pioneering experience”.
