Sayyid Al-Hakeem Calls to Benefit from Japanese Experience with E-Governance, Combat Corruption
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met with His Excellency Mr. Akira Endo, the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Iraq. His Eminence extended his best wishes for success for the Ambassador in his role leading his country’s diplomatic mission in Iraq. H.E. reaffirmed the strong ties between Baghdad and Tokyo and explored avenues to further enhance cooperation for the benefit of both friendly nations and their peoples.
H.E. emphasized the importance of drawing from Japan’s expertise in construction and reconstruction, as well as its advanced technological and digital innovations, which can play a key role in strengthening governance, promoting transparency, and combating corruption. H.E. also highlighted the significant influence of Japanese industry on Iraq’s cultural and daily life.
Their discussions also touched on developments in Syria and the wider region. H.E. urged the international community to take responsibility for stabilizing Syria, as the ongoing chaos there has serious implications for regional and global peace. H.E. underscored that lasting stability in Syria depends on empowering its people to govern themselves, draft their own constitution, and preserve the country’s demographic diversity.
Finally, H.E. stressed the critical need to halt the war in Gaza, provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, rebuild devastated cities, and facilitate the return of displaced populations.
