Sayyid Al-Hakeem Supports ICRC Work, Urges Removing Obstacles

His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received at H.E.’s office in Baghdad Mr. Willem de Jonge, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iraq, expressing thanks for the Committee’s congratulations on Sovereignty Day and the end of the International Coalition’s mission to combat ISIS in Iraq.
H.E. explained that Sovereignty Day is evidence of Iraq’s recovery and the end of the terrorism phase, valuing all efforts that helped ease the suffering of the Iraqi people from terrorism, including the suffering of displacement and the destruction of cities, and affirming that Iraq’s priorities at present are preserving the security achievement, activating and sustaining intelligence work, and resolving the problem of weapons outside the framework of the state through dialogue and understanding. H.E. also expressed support for the work of the International Committee in Iraq and for removing the obstacles before it.
