Sayyid Al-Hakeem Welcomes Iranian–American Memorandum Understanding, Stresses Regional Stability
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received this evening at his office the Head of the European Union Advisory Mission to Iraq, His Excellency Mr. Ralph Schroeder. The meeting featured an exchange of views on bilateral relations between Iraq and the EU member states, in a manner that safeguards the interests of both sides and preserves Iraq's sovereignty.
H.E. affirmed that Iraq has moved past a difficult period of political deadlock and fulfilled its constitutional entitlements through the selection of the three presidencies and the formation of the government, calling for the completion of the ministerial cabinet by investing time in serious consultations to fill the remaining portfolios with ministers of competence, integrity, and experience. H.E. also renewed his support for brother Al-Zaidi's government in its anti-corruption drive and the pursuit of comprehensive reforms.
H.E. noted that the economic and financial challenge represents the greatest test before Iraq, affirming that the country possesses promising economic potential across multiple sectors. H.E. also expressed his welcome of the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, commending all efforts exerted to restore stability to the region and the world.
In the same context, H.E. commended the serious steps aimed at consolidating weapons under state authority, affirming that this is an explicit legal and constitutional measure enshrined in the government program. H.E. stressed the necessity of continuing to combat terrorism, drying up its sources, and destroying its strongholds, while maintaining intelligence vigilance and denying it the opportunity to reorganize — invoking Iraq's leading experience in confronting terrorism and defeating it on all fronts.
