Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Farmers Support, Dues Payment, Legislation Development to Strengthen Agricultural Production
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received at his office that evening a delegation from the Union of Farmers' Associations in Iraq, headed by the Union's Deputy President Sheikh Imad Al-Budairi and members of the Executive Office. H.E. expressed his rejection of what farmers were subjected to during their recent demonstrations, stressing that their financial dues must be paid in full and on time. H.E. affirmed that this is a government obligation and a fundamental pillar for sustaining agricultural production, as timely payment makes farming a worthwhile endeavor and motivates farmers to invest in their land.
H.E. also stressed the importance of price support and offering fair prices for agricultural products, streamlining their collection processes, and paying particular attention to small farm owners.
H.E. called for modernizing legislation that serves farmers and agriculturalists, and for providing them with the seeds and fertilizers necessary to support their productive work.
