Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Dhi-Qar Importance, Calls to Invest Economic Potential
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, held a meeting on Thursday evening, 29 January 2026, with the Governor of Dhi Qar, Mr. Haitham Al-Hamdani.
During the meeting both parties discussed the state of services and development in Dhi Qar Governorate, and H.E. highlighted the governorate’s historical and economic significance and called for better utilization of its tourism, agricultural, and oil resources to support development and enhance the quality of services for its residents.
H.E. emphasized the importance of giving greater attention to districts and sub-districts, particularly in infrastructure, to ensure fair distribution of projects and to address service gaps between the governorate center and outlying areas.
H.E. also urged the adoption of e-governance and automated systems in service delivery and citizens’ transactions, noting that the vast geographical size of Dhi Qar makes digital governance the most effective way to save time and effort and to reduce bureaucracy and corruption.
H.E. reaffirmed the need to complete stalled projects and to prioritize those with high completion rates, so as to achieve concrete and visible results.
H.E. also stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and integration between the local government, the Provincial Council, clans, academic institutions, and other stakeholders, in order to serve the public interest and advance sustainable development in the governorate.
