Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Political Updates, Strengthening Economic Cooperation with Japan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry

His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received in his Baghdad office Mr. Nagaoka Kansuke, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday evening, December 1, 2025. The meeting was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, His Excellency Mr. Akira Ando.
During the meeting, His Eminence reviewed developments in Iraq's political landscape following the recent parliamentary elections. H.E. affirmed that the outcomes conveyed clear messages demonstrating the Iraqi people's adherence to the democratic process and their unity around the political system—a reality reflected in the broad and active voter participation and the smooth, transparent conduct of the electoral process.
His Eminence emphasized that Iraq is moving steadily toward sustainable stability by building on positive gains and strengthening a climate of trust. H.E. noted the importance of addressing economic and financial challenges with a pragmatic vision and strong capability, much like what Iraq achieved in overcoming past difficulties.
H.E. also highlighted the significance of expanding the role of Japanese companies in Iraq’s reconstruction and development projects, and of seizing promising opportunities across various sectors. H.E. pointed out the favorable reputation Japanese companies enjoy among Iraqis, owing to the longstanding historical ties between the two countries and their shared experiences in development and rebuilding efforts.
