Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Political Scene Updates, Enhancing Bilateral Ties with Italian Ambassador
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicolo Fontana, on Tuesday morning, 25 November 2025, at his office in Baghdad.
Following a warm welcome to His Excellency, the discussion explored recent political developments in Iraq and the broader region, along with the state of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Rome. His Eminence called for strengthening these ties in a manner that supports the interests of both nations and their friendly peoples.
H.E. highlighted the evolving political scene in Iraq, particularly in the aftermath of the recent election results, noting that the elections, their outcomes, and the recorded voter turnout all reaffirm the Iraqi people’s commitment to the democratic process, electoral participation, and the peaceful transfer of power. H.E. further noted that political powers are moving earnestly toward forming a government capable of meeting the aspirations of the Iraqi people within the constitutional timelines.
