    Sayyid All-Hakeem Receives Basra Governor, Affirms Adherence to Constitutional Timelines to Form Government

    His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem met in his Baghdad office on Sunday, 23 November 2025, with Basra Governor Mr. Asaad Al-Eidani. The meeting included congratulations on the successful parliamentary elections and well-wishes to the winning candidates, along with an emphasis on adhering to the constitutional timelines for forming the next government.
    H.E. stressed the importance of reaching agreement on the vision and approach for shaping the new cabinet, highlighting the need to prioritize key issues and confront the challenges expected in the coming phase in a way that aligns with the aspirations of the Iraqi people and supports stability and development.
    H.E. noted that the recent elections carried several significant messages, foremost among them the broad, active, and aware public participation across the country, stating that turnout rates reflect Iraqi society’s firm commitment to the democratic system and the electoral path as a stable national choice.
    H.E. also emphasized the need to ensure fairness toward Basra Province and implement the legislation specific to it, especially given its status as Iraq’s economic capital. H.E. affirmed that progress in Basra represents progress for the entire country due to its substantial economic and strategic weight in the national development path.
