Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Al-Mahmoudiya: Don’t Waste Iraq’s Achievements, Next Stage Reconstruction, Development
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met this afternoon with a large gathering of tribal elders, dignitaries, and residents of Al-Mahmoudiya District. His Eminence emphasized that Al-Mahmoudiya has long been a symbol of coexistence among Iraqis, noting that this meeting comes at a critical juncture in Iraq’s history.
H.E. reaffirmed that Iraq has overcome major challenges through Allah’s grace and the determination of its people. Each trial, H.E. said, only strengthened Iraq’s resolve and resilience. H.E. also highlighted the role of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani (may his shadow endure) in uniting Iraqis and healing divisions, as he stood in defense of all Iraq’s people.
H.E. recalled that Iraq’s suffering under terrorism, including ISIS, which once occupied 40% of the country, could have lasted until 2030 according to some assessments. However, the historic fatwa of defensive jihad and the mobilization of tribal fighters led to the liberation of the land and a decisive victory. H.E. added that Iraq also endured fierce political disputes among its forces, yet managed to overcome them thanks to the wisdom of its leaders. The resulting societal peace, political calm, positive relations among citizens, and balanced regional and international ties are all hard-won achievements that must be preserved.
H.E. urged Iraqis to hold fast to these gains, saying: #DontWasteIt, for they pave the way toward a strong, independent, stable, and prosperous Iraq built on social justice.
H.E. affirmed that the upcoming priorities are service-oriented, as Iraq enters a stage of reconstruction and development—one that Iraqis are fully capable of achieving. H.E. explained that political stability is the foundation of Iraq’s broader stability, leading to security, social harmony, and ultimately, reconstruction and prosperity accompanied by public satisfaction.
H.E. expressed respect for all political forces competing in the elections, noting that some offer short-term fixes, while others present comprehensive visions for economic reform and national progress. H.E. stressed that the National State Powers Alliance does not make hollow or unrealistic promises and warned against political opportunists and reckless actors, calling for discernment between genuine programs and empty rhetoric. H.E. stated that politics should be practiced by those who are sincere, professional, and guided by the nation’s interests above all else.
H.E. called on voters to elect candidates with proven records of public service, underscoring that a member of parliament holds an influential legislative and oversight role capable of bringing tangible benefits to their communities. H.E. reaffirmed that moderation and centrism remain the only approach capable of preserving the country.
H.E. concluded by urging broad, conscious, and informed participation in the upcoming elections.
