Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Prime Minister, Stresses Turning Fragile Stability into Lasting Stability
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.
The meeting discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the region, discussions on upcoming national milestones, the outcomes of the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Brussels, as well as H.E.’s own visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
His Eminence emphasized the importance of preserving the achievements made in the current phase, underlining that the upcoming elections must serve as an opportunity to strengthen these gains and move from a state of fragile stability to one of lasting stability that meets the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
H.E. called for broad, active, and informed participation in the forthcoming elections, stressing that competition should be based on programs and visions rather than political maneuvering or sectarian rhetoric, in order to reinforce trust in the democratic process.
H.E. also highlighted the need to maintain Iraq’s balanced openness to both regional and international partners, noting the importance of handling shared concerns in a way that safeguards Iraq’s interests and avoids entanglement in conflicts that undermine its stability.
On the economic front, H.E. stressed the urgency of diversifying Iraq’s sources of national income, urging a move away from dependency on the rentier state model and the volatility of oil prices. H.E. called for revitalizing other productive sectors such as industry, agriculture, tourism, and investment to ensure sustainable development for the country.
