Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Stresses Openness, International Relations Balance
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the new Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, H.E. Josh Harris.
His Eminence congratulated Mr. Harris on assuming his new duties, wishing him success in leading the U.S. diplomatic mission in Baghdad in a manner that strengthens cooperation between the two countries, grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.
H.E. affirmed that Iraq pursues a policy of openness to all, seeking to build the best possible relations with regional and global partners, while preserving its sovereignty and safeguarding its supreme national interests.
H.E. pointed out that Iraq’s current stability is the outcome of the people’s sacrifices and their commitment to national unity in the face of challenges, noting that this stability has enhanced Iraq’s regional and international relations.
H.E. emphasized the importance of supporting regional stability and prioritizing dialogue and reason in addressing crises, stressing that escalation benefits no one, harms all, and obstructs opportunities for peace and development.
On domestic affairs, H.E. referred to the upcoming elections, describing them as a pivotal democratic milestone in Iraq’s history, with the potential to drive a positive shift toward lasting stability.
H.E. called for broad and conscious participation in the upcoming elections, highlighting the need for responsible choices in favor of candidates and lists capable of meeting the Iraqi people’s aspirations for reform and nation-building.
