Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Strengthening Ties with Japanese Ambassador, Calls to Expand Economic Presence in Iraq

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in his Baghdad office the Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, H.E. Mr. Akira Endo, to review the state of bilateral relations and explore ways to advance them in service of the two friendly nations.
His Eminence underscored the importance of enhancing Iraqi-Japanese relations across multiple levels, calling for a broader economic presence of Japan in Iraq through its companies and institutions, while noting the positive perception Iraqis hold toward Japan—its government, people, and successful development and reconstruction experience.
H.E. also outlined the nature of the political landscape in Iraq, pointing out that the stability seen today—political, security, and social alike—has been achieved through the great sacrifices of the Iraqi people and their strong national will to overcome crises. H.E. stressed that Iraq is moving forward and has no desire to return to previous setbacks, urging that current achievements be built upon.
Regarding the upcoming elections, H.E. described them as a pivotal moment in consolidating stability and transitioning toward sustainability, affirming that broad and informed participation will be the cornerstone of a balanced political future, and that all parties bear responsibility in this critical phase without exception.
