Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives British Ambassador, Affirms Elections Importance to Consolidate Democracy
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance met with His Excellency Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Baghdad, to discuss recent political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem reflected on the difficult path Iraq has endured over the decades—from dictatorship and successive wars to the fight against terrorism in its various forms—and affirmed that the current state of stability is the result of the enduring sacrifices made by Iraqis from all segments of society across different periods.
His Eminence emphasized the significance of the upcoming elections in strengthening stability and transitioning from a fragile phase to a more sustainable one. H.E. also stressed the critical role these elections play in reinforcing Iraq’s democratic system and urged for broad, active, and informed participation.
In addition, His Eminence highlighted that the delivery of essential services and advancement of reconstruction and development projects are vital to fostering public satisfaction. This will contribute greatly to citizens’ trust in the political system and will help in overcoming many obstacles.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem also reaffirmed support for economic reforms that aim to streamline state spending and guide it toward priorities that are in direct contact with citizen’s needs.
