Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives British Ambassador, Stresses Importance of Upcoming Elections in Consolidating Democratic Stability

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met this morning with the British Ambassador to Baghdad, Irfan Siddiq, to discuss political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and ways to strengthen them.
His Eminence reflected on the difficult stages Iraq has endured over past decades—from resisting dictatorship to enduring successive wars, and confronting security challenges and terrorism in its various forms—emphasizing that the current stability is the result of sacrifices made by Iraqis from all components and at different stages.
H.E. affirmed that the upcoming elections represent a pivotal moment to move from fragile stability to sustainable stability, noting that this democratic process is a fundamental pillar in consolidating the political system and reinforcing the country’s democratic path. H.E. also called for broad and informed participation by citizens.
H.E. stressed that improving services and implementing reconstruction and development projects are the real entry points to achieving public satisfaction, which in turn strengthens citizens’ trust in the political system and helps overcome many challenges.
H.E. further expressed full support for economic reform efforts, particularly those aimed at streamlining government spending and directing resources toward developmental priorities that directly address citizens’ needs.
