Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Reaffirms Iraq’s Commitment to Balanced, Sovereignty-Respecting Relations

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad for a meeting that covered recent political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States. The two sides also exchanged views on several issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, His Eminence underscored Iraq’s historical stature and its deep-rooted civilizational legacy as the cradle of some of the world’s earliest civilizations. H.E. affirmed that Iraq seeks to build strong and balanced relations with regional and global partners—relations grounded in mutual interests, respect for sovereignty, and the protection of Iraq’s national interests and independent decision-making.
H.E. also outlined the nature of Iraq’s current political transformation, highlighting progress made in consolidating democratic governance and the country’s efforts to shift from a phase of temporary stability to one of lasting, sustainable stability. H.E. stressed the importance of not backsliding to earlier stages of instability.
Looking ahead to the political future, H.E. emphasized the critical importance of the upcoming elections, describing them as a launchpad toward greater stability. H.E. once again called for broad and informed public participation in the electoral process.
