Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Albu Darraj Tribe, Baghdad, Emphasizes Electoral Awareness, Economic Development

In a spirit of national engagement, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with a gathering of sheikhs and dignitaries from Albu Darraj tribe in Baghdad’s Al-Adl neighborhood, hosted by Sheikh Kazem Finjan Al-Darraji.
At the outset, His Eminence offered condolences on the martyrdom anniversaries of Imam Hussein and Imam Zain Al-Abideen (peace be upon them), highlighting the profound lessons drawn from the legacy of Imam Al-Sajjad (peace be upon him) during the challenging aftermath of Karbala. H.E. noted that Imam Al-Sajjad’s approach of supplication and eloquent discourse played a pivotal role in reshaping spiritual and intellectual thought, influencing public awareness despite attempts to sideline and isolate him.
H.E. also reflected on how the Imam transformed grief into a force for awakening and mobilization, urging reflection on the deep humanistic and intellectual dimensions found in his prayers, which continue to serve as a source of authentic Islamic thought.
Turning to national affairs, H.E. stated that Iraq has moved beyond difficult chapters—most notably the fight against terrorism—thanks to the historic fatwa issued by the Supreme Religious Authority and the unwavering resolve of Iraq’s tribal communities. H.E. affirmed that Iraq is now entering a new phase of service delivery and development, with visible reconstruction and public service efforts unfolding across the provinces.
H.E. stressed that the top priority going forward must be economic growth and investment. H.E. called for the creation of a supportive legal and administrative environment to attract investors and achieve meaningful development breakthroughs.
On the subject of upcoming elections, H.E. drew parallels with the 2005 elections as a foundational moment for a new phase in Iraq’s journey. H.E. emphasized that this stage represents the beginning of sustainable stability, which hinges on broad, conscious, and effective public participation.
H.E. urged voters to rely on clear criteria when selecting candidates—choosing the right individual from within the right list—and warned against being misled by lavish campaign displays that do not align with the financial reality of those seeking to represent the people. Voting for such candidates, H.E. said, is a form of complicity in corruption.
In conclusion, H.E. underscored that the upcoming elections must reflect the Iraqi people’s hopes and aspirations for a better future—through the election of competent national figures capable of advancing reform and ensuring long-term stability.
