Sayyid Al-Hakeem at Youth Leadership Forum: We Rely on Young People to Drive Change and Safeguard Iraq’s Stability

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, affirmed during his participation in the Youth Leadership Forum that young Iraqis are central to achieving meaningful change and preserving national stability.
Opening his address with renewed condolences on the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) martyrdom, H.E. described the Imam’s uprising as a monumental project for life and transformation, rooted in the truth of his cause and the sincerity of his mission—qualities that made his legacy endure despite the limited number of his supporters.
H.E. emphasized the need for sincerity in action, reliance on Allah Almighty, prioritizing national interests over personal or factional gains, and working collectively for the good of Iraq and its stability. H.E. explained that any project grounded in truth requires steadfast individuals who can defend it and counter campaigns of misinformation and distortion.
Highlighting the importance of balanced and realistic analysis of the current landscape, H.E. urged youth to harness and develop their strengths. He noted that internal discipline and unity were key factors in making the Karbala event a timeless epic that transcends history.
H.E. also called for embracing youth and preparing them to take on national responsibilities and leadership roles in the journey of change. He stressed that moderation and centrism are essential sources of strength, sustained by patience and perseverance—principles at the core of Al-Hikma’s approach to all issues.
Addressing regional developments, H.E. remarked that the recent Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran failed to achieve its objectives and instead reinforced Iranian unity and earned broad Arab and Islamic sympathy. H.E. reiterated that dialogue remains the only viable path to regional security and stability, once again emphasizing the necessity of maintaining Iraq’s sovereignty and internal stability.
Regarding Iraq’s upcoming elections, H.E. described them as a critical juncture for moving from a phase of challenges to one of long-term sustainability. H.E. expressed his trust in the youth’s capacity to lead change, stressing the importance of ensuring equal opportunities, secure electoral conditions, and robust, informed participation.
In conclusion, H.E. renewed his call for embracing a “Shiite national identity” as a gateway to broader engagement with all components of Iraqi society. H.E. affirmed that Al-Hikma has preserved transparent and confident relationships with political forces and underscored the importance of ensuring that ties between the federal government, the Kurdistan Region, and local administrations are built upon equitable wealth distribution and a clear balance between rights and responsibilities.
