Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Security System Reforms With National Security Adviser, Emphasizes Electoral Security
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji this morning for a meeting focused on Iraq’s current security landscape and ways to strengthen the security apparatus in light of present and future challenges.
During the discussion, H.E. was briefed on the outcomes of Al-Araji’s recent visit to the Kurdistan Region. H.E. emphasized that unresolved issues between the federal government and the regional authorities must be addressed through dialogue grounded in the constitution, legal frameworks, and national interest.
H.E. stressed that security stability is a cornerstone for achieving both social and economic stability. He highlighted the necessity of integrating modern technologies into security operations and continuously improving intelligence efforts to effectively prevent threats and respond to them.
Touching on the upcoming elections, H.E. described them as a pivotal turning point for transitioning from fragile stability to sustainable stability. H.E. called for the creation of a secure and fair electoral environment that ensures equal opportunities for all political parties and candidates, thereby enhancing public trust in the electoral process.
In a related context, H.E. also welcomed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) decision to lay down arms and pursue a political path, urging that such opportunities be leveraged to bolster Iraq’s security and uphold its sovereignty.
