Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Iraqi Tribes Are a Pillar of National Stability and State-Building

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received Sheikh Mohammed Al-Uraibi, Chief Sheikh of the respected Al Bu Mohammed tribe, at his office in Baghdad. The meeting served as a moment to reflect on the tribe’s shared history with the national movement, including its courageous resistance against dictatorship and terrorism, as well as its meaningful role in building the foundations of modern Iraq.
H.E. reaffirmed the pivotal role played by Iraqi tribes in shaping the country’s political, social, and security landscape. He recalled the words of the martyred Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammed Baqir Al-Hakim (may his soul rest in peace): “Iraq and Iraqi society were preserved by the blessed religious authority, the Husseini rituals, and the Iraqi tribes.”
H.E. urged tribal leaders to take on an even greater role in strengthening national stability and contributing to sustainable peace, emphasizing that the upcoming phase requires heightened awareness and a deep sense of national responsibility.
In this context, H.E. reiterated the importance of the upcoming elections, describing them as a defining moment in Iraq’s future. He called for broad, responsible, and informed participation, grounded in selecting the most capable and qualified candidates from credible national lists—ensuring the continued progress of Iraq’s stability and development.
