Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Drawing from Husseini Lessons, Underscores 2025 Elections

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with sheiks and dignitaries from Al-Awadil branch of Al-Shammar tribe, offering them heartfelt condolences on the arrival of Muharram—the month that marks the martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
H.E. reflected on the profound lessons of the Karbala tragedy, explaining that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) designed a wise and strategic path for ensuring the endurance of his message—delivering sermons and guidance, then sending his companions and family members to the battlefield one by one. “Each of them had a story, a stance,” H.E. noted, making Karbala not just an event in history but a powerful cause that stirs the conscience of the ummah and stands as a monumental human epic.
Turning to national matters, H.E. described the 2025 elections as a critical milestone in Iraq’s democratic journey, one that began with the 2005 elections. H.E. emphasized that this next electoral cycle is a vital opportunity to reinforce the sustainable stability achieved through the sacrifices of the Iraqi people, with the support of the Supreme Religious Authority and the steadfastness of the tribes.
H.E. called for broad and active public participation in the elections, urging citizens to vote and choose capable, principled candidates from trustworthy electoral lists. H.E. also warned of the danger posed by political money, which threatens the integrity of the democratic process by distorting voter decisions and undermining public trust.
In conclusion, H.E. underscored that elections are not merely a political event but a real chance to transform public services. This can only be achieved through well-crafted legislation, proper financial allocations, and consistent follow-up with relevant authorities to ensure that the results of the ballot box translate into meaningful improvements in citizens’ lives and services.
