    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Media and Communications Commission Trustees Board, Stresses Responsible Media, Electoral Discourse Importance

    Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received a delegation from the Board of Trustees of Iraq’s Media and Communications Commission. The delegation presented a detailed overview of the Commission’s responsibilities and its key role in regulating the media and telecommunications sectors in the country.
    During the meeting, Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the need for greater coordination and integration among media institutions to safeguard national interests and preserve the social fabric. H.E. also called for the diversification and improvement of telecommunication services and urged a shift toward digital automation to enhance efficiency, transparency, and ease of access.
    H.E. warned against the dangers of inflammatory and sectarian rhetoric, stressing the need for responsible national media to counter such narratives, which pose a serious threat to civil peace and societal cohesion.
    On the electoral front, H.E. underscored the importance of maintaining discipline throughout the election campaigns, stating that addressing smear campaigns and defamation targeting candidates is essential to ensuring a healthy democratic process and electoral transparency. H.E. affirmed that relevant institutions bear a clear responsibility to monitor and respond effectively, in order to protect public trust in the electoral process and prevent damaging deviations.
