Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received this morning the Ambassador of Canada to Iraq, H.E. Christopher David Bim. The meeting focused on the latest political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the state of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Ottawa.
During the meeting, Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the importance of strengthening Iraqi–Canadian relations and diversifying areas of cooperation in ways that serve the interests of both nations. H.E. stressed that the current phase calls for greater engagement and coordination with international partners who support Iraq’s path to stability.
H.E. reiterated firm opposition to the Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in containing the escalation and preventing the region from sliding into broader conflict that could jeopardize both regional and global security.
H.E. also underlined the pivotal role of the upcoming elections in consolidating Iraq’s democratic system, urging for broad, responsible, and informed public participation. H.E. highlighted the need for electoral competition to be centered on practical programs and realistic visions, rather than polarizing rhetoric that undermines the public interest.
In conclusion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem noted that Iraq is currently experiencing political, economic, social, and security stability. H.E. stressed the importance of safeguarding and building upon this stability to establish a solid foundation for comprehensive national progress.
