Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Al-Zargan and Al-Kamaliya Dignitaries, Stresses Upcoming Elections Informed Participation Importance

As part of his ongoing outreach to the Iraqi people, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with a group of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Al-Zargan and neighboring tribes in the Al-Zahraa neighborhood (Al-Kamaliya) in eastern Baghdad. H.E. offered his congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadir, affirming that the pledge at Ghadir represents the political guardianship of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), explicitly affirmed in the Holy Qur’an.
Speaking on the political horizon, H.E. noted that the upcoming elections mark a pivotal moment distinct from previous cycles—comparable in significance to the 2005 elections that laid the foundation for Iraq’s democracy. H.E. described the vote as a critical step toward achieving lasting stability in the country.
He called for broad and meaningful participation in the elections, urging Iraqis to approach this national duty with the same determination they showed in 2005. H.E. stressed the urgency of updating biometric voter cards and cautioned against heeding defeatist voices that aim to weaken the will of voters or undermine their right to choose true representatives.
H.E. underscored the need to elect candidates of integrity from within credible electoral lists and to ensure that marginalized areas are represented by individuals who can genuinely advocate for their service and development needs. He encouraged voters to support candidates with proven commitment to their communities rather than those offering empty slogans.
On a broader national level, H.E. affirmed that Iraq has moved past the phase of sectarian and ethnic polarization and is now entering a new era of political, security, and service stability—having overcome major challenges in a relatively short time.
Regarding regional developments, H.E. stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated flexibility and constructive engagement in regional dialogues but was recently subjected to a sudden and unjustified strike that drew widespread international sympathy. He reaffirmed Iraq’s consistent support for Iran on political, diplomatic, and media fronts, emphasizing the importance of mobilizing all available resources and platforms to bolster that stance.
