Sayyid Al-Hakeem on Speicher Massacre Anniversary: Committed to Justice, Calling for Unity, Hatred Rejection
On the anniversary of the Speicher massacre, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, expressed profound sorrow over this national tragedy, describing it as “one of the most heinous crimes witnessed by our wounded nation,” in which more than 1,700 innocent young Iraqis were brutally murdered by treacherous terrorism.
In his statement, H.E. affirmed that this horrific crime remains etched in Iraq’s collective memory and that commemorating it only deepens the resolve to pursue justice and continue demanding accountability for all those who participated in or supported the atrocity in any form. H.E. stressed the need to work diligently to ensure that such tragedies are never repeated in Iraq’s future.
H.E. also noted that the pure blood of the martyrs will remain a guiding light on the path of freedom and dignity, serving as a lasting motivation to build a new Iraq grounded in peace and stability.
On this painful occasion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem called on all Iraqis—individuals and institutions alike—to reject terrorism, violence, and hatred, and to uphold a culture of coexistence and civil peace. H.E. emphasized the importance of national unity and the embrace of Iraq’s diverse communities as a cornerstone for building a secure and prosperous future.
H.E. concluded the statement with a prayer for mercy upon the martyrs of Speicher and all of Iraq’s martyrs, asking Allah to grant them eternal rest in His vast paradise.
