On World Day Against Child Labor, Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Protecting Childhood Is a Human, Moral, and Legal Obligation

Marking the World Day Against Child Labor, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, underscored the urgent need to safeguard children's rights and end all forms of child exploitation—whether in the labor market or through recruitment by terrorist groups and organized crime. H.E. affirmed that protecting childhood "is not a choice, but a human, moral, and legal obligation."
In his statement, H.E. called for joint efforts to build a future where children’s dignity is upheld and their rights to education, care, and healthy development are fully protected. H.E. noted that millions of children across the globe—especially in vulnerable and impoverished communities—continue to be forced into labor and denied their most basic rights.
H.E. also stressed the need for collaboration among governments, civil society, employers, educational institutions, and families, urging the adoption of a comprehensive national strategy that includes:
    1.  Strengthening policies that criminalize all forms of child labor.
    2.  Providing economic support to families to reduce their dependence on child income.
    3.  Ensuring quality, free education for all without discrimination.
    4.  Raising public awareness about the dangers of child labor and the importance of child protection.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem concluded his statement by reaffirming the need for unified action to end the exploitation of children and to offer them real opportunities to build a better future in just, safe, and inclusive societies.
