Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Anbar PMF Ops HQ: PMF Are Iraq’s Safety Valve, Its Security Foundation

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, visited the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Operations Headquarters in Anbar Province, where H.E. met with a number of commanders, brigade leaders, and groups of fighters. H.E. expressed deep pride in meeting them and conveyed high appreciation for their sacrifices and continued efforts in safeguarding Iraq’s security.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem affirmed that the PMF has played a central role in defending Iraq and liberating its territories. His Eminence highlighted that the blood of martyrs from the South and Middle Euphrates, alongside their brothers in the liberated provinces, laid the foundation for the victory and stability Iraq enjoys today.
H.E. noted that Anbar is now witnessing a stable security environment and significant reconstruction activity—a reality made possible by the sacrifices of all security forces, with the PMF at the forefront. H.E. emphasized that although these efforts may not always be visible, they are vital and impactful.
Urging continued vigilance, H.E. stressed the importance of sustaining security achievements and warned against slipping into complacency. H.E. called for proactive and innovative approaches tailored to the evolving needs of each stage.
H.E. also underscored the critical role of intelligence, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence in strengthening Iraq’s security capabilities. H.E. urged the integration of these tools into security systems to address shifting threats effectively.
Recognizing that the PMF is under constant scrutiny, Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the need for utmost caution. H.E. stated that preserving the PMF’s reputation is a collective responsibility that requires respectful engagement with citizens, transparent communication, and sincere efforts to resolve grievances.
H.E. commended the PMF’s contributions to national security, remarking that the stability Iraq now enjoys is rare even among neighboring countries—and this stability is a direct result of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the PMF and other security forces.
Reflecting on Iraq’s battle against terrorism, H.E. noted that ISIS targeted the very essence of life and humanity in Iraq, which revealed the deep need for national unity. H.E. affirmed that without this collective realization, the PMF would not have emerged in response to the historic fatwa of defensive jihad issued by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Al-Sistani (may his shadow endure).
H.E. also pointed to the collusion between terrorism and remnants of the Ba’athist regime, citing confessions by former regime elements who admitted to plotting the collapse of the Iraqi state. H.E. asserted that it was the fatwa and the formation of the PMF that thwarted these conspiracies and served as a bulwark against collapse.
In conclusion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem renewed his pride in the PMF, affirming that Iraq will always need their dedication and resilience at every stage in the pursuit of lasting security in Anbar and across all provinces.
