Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Albu Mara’i Tribe Guesthouse in Ramadi: Diversity Is Iraq’s Strength, Informed Electoral Participation Is National Duty
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, continued his tour of Al-Anbar Governorate, where His Eminence was hosted at the guesthouse of the Albu Mara’i tribe by Sheikh Arkan Tarmouz Al-Mara’awi in the city of Ramadi. H.E. met with a group of the governorate’s tribal sheikhs and community dignitaries.
During the meeting, Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the importance of Iraq’s religious, sectarian, ethnic, and tribal diversity, stressing that true allegiance must be to the nation first and foremost. H.E. called for strengthening ties between social components and deepening communication beyond political or electoral aims.
H.E. clarified that these visits to the provinces are part of a national vision aimed at understanding citizens’ conditions, discussing their concerns and problems, and working to address them. H.E. explained that the previous security conditions in Al-Anbar were among the reasons that limited visits in the past period.
H.E. praised the current state of security and social coexistence in Al-Anbar, along with the ongoing reconstruction and development the province is witnessing. H.E. stressed the need to unify ranks, safeguard both internal and external fronts, and confront rhetoric that seeks to sow division among the people.
H.E. urged that the past be treated as a source of lessons, not a burden, stressing the importance of building on the achieved stability and transforming it into lasting stability. H.E. expressed hope that the upcoming elections would help consolidate this stability, pointing out that the new electoral law ensures a balance between votes and seats, unlike the 2021 law which led to noticeable disparities.
H.E. further stated that the challenges Iraq has endured, particularly terrorism, have fostered a national immunity against extremism and have strengthened the values of moderation and centrism. H.E. recalled the “Our Resilient Anbar” initiative as a preemptive step in the fight against terrorism, despite the defamation campaigns it faced.
On the economic front, H.E. noted that the decline in oil prices presents Iraq with serious financial challenges, underscoring the need to move away from relying solely on oil as the primary source of income. H.E. called for revitalizing productive sectors such as industry, agriculture, tourism, technology, and investment.
H.E. concluded by affirming the importance of broad and informed participation in the upcoming elections, urging citizens to update their biometric cards and to carefully choose their representatives. H.E. stressed that the electoral vote is a trust and a testimony that must be given to those who deserve it, calling for lessons to be drawn from past experiences to build a better future.
